Help Drinking Liberally Bellingham welcome their new chapter leader, Steve Murray. Murray is a local musician perhaps best known from his Bellingham band, Clambake. He is also a writer and filmmaker who has made his home in Whatcom County for more than 30 years. As Bellingham's new Drinking Liberally chair he hopes to create a fun, safe place for all to express their opinions and maybe learn something they didn't know before.

Drinking Liberally gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club--just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics. It's also a great way for citizens to connect to their elected officials over a beer in an informal setting.

Bars are democratic spaces--you talk to strangers, you share booths, you feel the bond of common ground. Bring democratic discourse to your local democratic space--build democracy one drink at a time.
