Get in The Way: The Journey of John Lewis

Bellingham residents will have the chance to preview a new documentary film about legendary civil rights activist and U.S. Representative John Lewis Thursday, May 5 at the Pickford Cinema (1318 Bay Street) at 6 p.m. The event is one of the first screenings in the country and will feature a Q&A session with a panel of local activists and the film's director Kathleen Dowdey, a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA). 

The film has premiered in NY, Atlanta, and Washington DC locations (including the DGA theater in LA). It will also be shown on April 26 to members of U.S. Congress and their staff. This film is a high-quality and moving depiction of his life and contribution.

Admission is free and a $10 donation is suggested. All proceeds to benefit the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center.
