Whatcom County residents are invited to meet Erin Jones, candidate for Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction, at an informal meet and greet on Sunday June 10th, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Black Drop Coffeehouse (300 W Champion Street, Bellingham). 

Erin Jones is a 25-year educator who believes every student deserves a quality education regardless of race, zip code, or home language. She is a PLU alumna, mother of three public school graduates, and candidate for Washington State Superintendent. 

She will be available for questions about her perspective on the current challenges in the public education system and her goals for elected office. This will be a great opportunity for residents to personally meet and discuss issues related to education in Washington State, and her solutions to address them.

Erin Jones, the adopted daughter of two educators, grew up in The Netherlands, where her parents taught at the American School of The Hague. She is quadrilingual, speaking four languages: Dutch, French, English and Spanish. She attended Bryn Mawr College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative LIterature with a focus on literatures of the African Diaspora. Jones earned her teaching certificate at Pacific Lutheran University (2001) with endorsements in English, French and ELL.
